Galaxy 39: Toy Chest of Ludora

The fourth parallel world is a toy chest as big as a galaxy. On Cubia, giant blocks are stacked up to the sky. Something stacked them. Something very big.

A block falls from the top of the pile. The ground shakes.

The tin soldiers of Plombia march in step, rifles on their shoulders. They have never known a real war, and they dream of one. You are their first.

A drum beats. A row of soldiers shoulders its rifles.

The teddy bears of Peluchia have button eyes. They used to protect the children of this world. Today, they have claws, and no more children to protect.

An enormous bear rises in the shadows. Its seams creak.

Toupia spins so fast on itself that it makes you dizzy. Giant spinning tops race around in every direction. You have to fight without ever standing upright for more than three seconds.

The ground suddenly tilts. A giant top rushes toward you.

The jacks-in-the-box of Ressortville spring out of their boxes without warning. Their laughter echoes long after they have passed. Their magic paralyzes anyone who looks them in the eye.

A music box plays three notes. The lid opens.

Grenieria is the attic of forgotten toys. They have been waiting for centuries for a child to come back and play. They have forgotten nothing. And they do not forgive.

The dust rises. Hundreds of toys turn their heads.

Ludora is the palace of the Toy King. All he wanted was for every toy to be loved forever. A voice from the rift promised him endless players. Since then, he lures the heroes of every world into his chest. And he never lets them leave. He repairs himself with every blow he takes, like a toy being sewn back up. Behind his throne, the rift pulses like a heart.

The Toy King claps his hands. “Let’s play! Forever!”
